Why Do I Have to Wait Despite Having an Appointment?
Concordia Pet Care 2024-05-21

According to a national study on the veterinary industry, pet parents typically wait an additional 17 minutes after their appointment time to see the vet, sometimes over 30 minutes.

The veterinary team must prioritize critical emergencies. When urgent cases affect waiting pet parents, we will inform them of the situation and the estimated waiting time.

Whether voluntarily or involuntarily, we all have been late at times. Most people think being 5-10 minutes late isn't a big deal. Unfortunately, these delays push back subsequent appointments.

Pets may be anxious during visits. Pets with anxiety or behavioral issues require extra care and time to adapt to the exam room and procedures.

When dealing with end-of-life situations or recent cancer diagnoses, it's a tough time for both the vet team and the pet parents. It's necessary to give parents extra time to ask questions and express their concerns, fears, and doubts.

Actions to Help the Vet Team Stay on Schedule

1.Bring information about your pet and any medications they are taking.

2. Explain your pet's general condition and any symptoms over the phone when booking the appointment.

3. Arrive a few minutes early to the clinic if possible.

4. In emergencies, if you don't have an appointment and need to bring your pet in, please contact us in advance to help the vet team prepare.

5. If you have time constraints, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

️For any pet parents with appointments, waiting seems unfair.

However, the time required for each appointment is not an exact science and is beyond our control. We value each parent's time and the time needed to provide the best care for pets. We understand the importance of time and strive to communicate any potential changes to appointment times. We greatly appreciate the understanding and patience of all pet parents.
