Bringing a Pet-Friendly Philosophy into a 24-Hour Animal Hospital

This year, Concordia Pet Care invited HANSCHIU / Maocasa to collaborate with us. After learning about the brand’s longstanding commitment to pet-friendly spaces, our team wanted to explore how this philosophy could be introduced into a veterinary setting to create a more comfortable and reassuring waiting experience for pets and their owners.


For both teams, this was more than a product trial. It was an in-hospital experience and feedback initiative jointly undertaken by a lifestyle brand and a veterinary medical team.

A Comprehensive In-Hospital Trial

For this collaboration, HANSCHIU / Maocasa provided a complete selection of products for a pet-friendly environment, including:

· Catnip calming spray

· True lavender botanical protective spray

· Multi-purpose protective cleaning spray

· Floor protective cleaner

· Botanical enzyme dishwashing spray

· Marble diffuser gift set

· Essential oils for water-based aroma diffusers

· Brand display materials


The products were used in different areas of the hospital, including the waiting area and inpatient wards, with our team incorporating them into daily workflows for practical observation.

Concordia also established a structured feedback process. Members of the marketing team and frontline staff provided separate usage feedback, giving the brand team an opportunity to understand the real-world experience within a veterinary environment.

Frontline Observations from Our Veterinary Team

The in-hospital feedback included a number of encouraging observations. Our veterinary team felt that the appropriate use of ambient fragrance helped improve the overall experience in the waiting area. Feedback included:

· A more pleasant and natural-smelling environment

· A calmer atmosphere in the waiting area

· Positive responses to the scent from team members and visiting pet owners

· A helpful contribution to managing environmental odours within the hospital


Positive Feedback on Pet-Friendliness

Across the feedback collected, pet-friendliness was one of the more highly rated areas, and most products received positive assessments in this respect. During the main observation period, the hospital team did not observe any obvious signs of discomfort among the animals.

In a very small number of instances, staff noted brief sneezing or avoidance of the scent. After switching to intermittent use and maintaining good ventilation, no persistent adverse responses were observed.

These observations also remind us that any fragranced product should be used with respect for each animal’s individual sensitivities, together with appropriate usage and good ventilation.

Valuable Feedback from Frontline Veterinary Professionals

The value of this collaboration lay not only in the positive feedback, but also in the practical recommendations shared by frontline veterinary professionals.

The Concordia team felt that the products performed well for general household cleaning needs. For use in a high-frequency, intensive medical environment, however, there remains an opportunity to further strengthen cleaning performance in line with the higher requirements of a clinical setting.

This feedback has given HANSCHIU / Maocasa clearer direction for future product refinement. A meaningful collaboration is not only about sharing praise; it is also about having an honest exchange and working together to improve both products and experiences.


Thoughtful Space Design Includes the Scent Experience

HANSCHIU and Maocasa believe that scent should not simply mask odours, but form part of the overall experience of a space. This is especially relevant in a veterinary setting, where each visit may involve unfamiliarity, anxiety and stress.

Through more thoughtful space design, gentle botanical formulations, and safe and appropriate use, we hope pets and their owners can feel a greater sense of reassurance when they enter the hospital. This is an important part of what the collaboration represents.


A Collaboration and a Shared Learning Experience

Concordia Pet Care sincerely thanks the HANSCHIU / Maocasa team for the care and commitment they brought to this collaboration. This was HANSCHIU’s first pet-friendly environment collaboration with a veterinary medical team in Hong Kong, and it allowed both teams to gain valuable frontline feedback.
