Dr. Dean Felkler graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London and has built an international career focused exclusively on exotic animal medicine and surgery across the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and Australia. He has led and developed exotic animal departments within large veterinary organisations, worked as one of Hong Kong's most senior exotic veterinarians at Asia's largest exotic animal referral centre, and later established and led specialist exotic services in Australia. Whilst in Australia, Dr. Dean has continued to build his experience working with wildlife organisations including zoos, animal sanctuaries and wildlife hospitals.

 

Dr. Dean holds a BSc, BVetMed, CertAVP (ZooMed), is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Reptile & Amphibian Practice). His clinical interests include advanced diagnostics and endoscopy, soft tissue surgery, reptile and amphibian medicine, rabbit dentistry and facial surgery, and complex medical and surgical case management. He is particularly passionate about combining evidence-based medicine with practical clinical approaches to deliver high-quality care for exotic species.

 

Dr. Dean has had a lifelong passion for reptiles, birds, and small mammals, which ultimately led him into exotic animal practice. He believes exceptional veterinary care comes from combining specialist knowledge with compassion, communication, and continual learning. He is passionate about not only treating patients, but also educating owners and supporting veterinary professionals through teaching, mentoring, and continuing education. Dr. Dean remains committed to helping raise standards of exotic animal care.
